Extra Aircraft Introduces the New Extra 330SX

Walter Extra, founder, and CEO of Extra Aircraft, proudly announces the EASA certification of their latest addition to the model lineup, the 330SX. This single-seat aerobatic monoplane, featuring a steel fuselage and carbon fiber wing/empennage, represents the evolution of the renowned nine-time world championship winning 330SC.

The 330SX took its inaugural flight on June 6, 2023, and has recently received EASA certification in March 2024. The first deliveries of the 330SX are anticipated to commence at the beginning of Q3 2024.

Key Improvement Highlights:

  • High Performance Ailerons: Enhancing roll rates with crisper stops.
  • Reduced Fuselage Length: Centralizing mass and enhancing agility across all axes.
  • Enhanced Cockpit Ergonomics: Improving pilot comfort, experience, and performance, including a wider cockpit, increased control stick clearance, improved headroom, and featuring the standard Garmin G3X Touch 7” display.
  • Optimized Leading Edge Cuffs: Improving wing-sealing gaskets.
  • Redesigned Cowling: Enhancing airflow for more efficient engine cooling.

The evolution of the Extra 330SX design promises enhanced performance throughout the flight envelope, enabling pilots to execute gyroscopic maneuvers more predictably and consistently. The introduction of the high-performance aileron package ensures superior roll authority, providing crisper maneuverability at all airspeeds, whether in competition or on the air show stage.

Furthermore, the updates to the fuselage design result in weight reduction while maintaining the same flight envelope speeds, including a VNE of 220KIAS.

Extra Aircraft has already sold the 330SX up to S/N 007 for deliveries in 2024 and is currently accepting orders for deliveries in Q1-2025.
