- Lecture Title: From Motorsport to Aerospace, a narrow gap to fill
In the aerospace, as of today, there are very few high-voltage propulsion battery players. This is due, on one hand, to the certification barriers to enter this world, on the other hand, instead, to the technology. However, the technology has to be split between the chemistry and the integration know-how. In terms of chemistry, we are getting closer year by year, although there might still be a short path to complete. In terms of integration of the cells and the battery development, the know-how is not present in the aerospace. Because of the need of high-performances and low weights, the motorsport industry is the closest one to this world. Podium highlights the commonalities between motorsport and aerospace in terms of battery needs and technologies.
